Most people ask two questions before anything else: what will it cost, and will I be paying every month. Here’s how pricing works for a typical home or small business in Northwest Ohio.
The two parts of the price: equipment and labor
Equipment is the cameras, a recorder (NVR) with a hard drive, and cable. A decent wired 4-camera system with a recorder usually costs a few hundred dollars for the hardware, more for higher resolution, night color or more storage. A video doorbell is typically $60–250 depending on the brand.
Labor is planning the camera spots, mounting, running and sealing cable, setting up the recorder and the phone app, and tuning motion alerts. Our up-front labor prices:
| Doorbell camera install Request | $79 |
| 4-camera system with recorder Request | $399 + equipment |
| Add a camera Request | $75 each |
Plus the trip fee for your ZIP – free within about 10 miles of Leipsic, $15 for about 10–20 miles and $30 for about 20–40 miles. Check your ZIP.
What makes a job cost more
- Long cable runs – for example to a detached garage, barn or the far end of a long driveway
- Hard mounting surfaces like brick or stone, or very high eaves that need a tall ladder
- More cameras or higher-resolution models that need a bigger hard drive
- Covering outbuildings that don’t have a cable path (a wireless bridge may be needed)
Monthly fees: you usually don’t need them
Systems with a recorder at your property store video locally and the phone app is free – no subscription. Many battery and doorbell brands charge monthly to save video in their cloud; that’s optional, not required. We explain the trade-off in this guide.
Tip: put your budget into fewer, well-placed cameras rather than many cheap ones. Doors, the driveway and anything valuable (garage, shop, barn) matter most.
